MY APPROACH
My greatest passion as a therapist is to help my clients lead a meaningful life aligned with their values and goals. I approach therapy collaboratively and support my clients as they work to develop new solutions to old problems. I help my clients build self-reliance through identifying what makes their life meaningful and taking committed actions towards achieving their goals. Therapy with me will look like a space with consistent, meaningful support while incorporating warmth, sensitivity, a sense of humor (at times) and a strong therapeutic alliance. I utilize an integration of behavioral and relational interventions in my practice to support each individual client.
As a trauma informed therapist, I specialize in evidence-based practices such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. These models of treatment are extremely effective in the management of anxiety, mood disorders, trauma, eating disorders, and substance use disorders.
ACCEPTANCE AND COMMITMENT THERAPY (ACT)
ACT is a form of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). It is grounded in helping clients take ACTion towards their values. It is a behavioral approach, so it supports clients ‘being’ and ‘living’ aligned with their core values. The principles of ACT are guided by increasing psychological flexibility and decreasing experiential avoidance. ACT is used to help clients change the way they see, relate, feel, and experience their thoughts, memories, and physical sensations through a non-judgmental lens. ACT uses acceptance (willingness) and mindfulness based behavioral techniques and strategies.
